The dress code allowed for female golfers was recently updated by the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA). This association changed to what some refer to as an old-fashioned dressing code while others think the new rules do not change much.

The new regulations state that lady golfers must not wear tops with low-plunging necks. They are only allowed to wear racer-back shirts if they have collars.

Banned from the golf course are leggings or joggers which can now only be worn under shorts or skirts. Failure to adhere to these regulations will see golfers part with $1000 in fine. It is not just the content of the new rules that have got tongues wagging. Many golfers are concerned about how vague the new regulations are. The length of the shorts or skirts has not been spelled out and neither is the specific kind of shirt that can be worn. All that the rules say is that the shorts and skirts should cover enough. Without specifics, many are worried about the implementation of the new rules.

Several lady golfers have aired their opinions on this issue. Charley Hull is a professional golfer and she says that adding the new rules was not a good idea. This is despite the rules not affecting her. She said that she only needs to make a few adjustments. However, she believed that the LPGA should be more modern and remove the restrictions on what women golfers can wear and what they cannot. Retired LPGA golfer, Paige Spiranac, also gave her opinion on the new regulations. Paige is known for wearing tight clothes when she used to play. From low-neck tops to short little skirts, you would find her on the course in any clothing she wanted. Paige jokingly said that the LPGA should consider adding untucked shirts among the things not to wear because these look unprofessional. She also suggested that they add all manner of ill-fitting clothes to what lady golfers should wear. It seems that the new regulations bother Ms. Spiranac. She may actually have been the reason for the changes made by the LPGA.

The LPGA says that they did not expect the new regulations to cause so much stir on social media. The organization says that their aim was to make people respect golfers. They believe that dressing matters in earning respect. They say that people are making a mountain out of a mole hill. They say that the changes are minor and they were made based on the feedback given by players. The aim of the new rules is to make female golfers look professional. LPGA hopes to achieve its goals despite of the many opinions directed towards the new changes.
