A lot of us tend to use social media as a way to vent our frustration with the world that surrounds us and sometimes with the people who irk us but one dad learned the hard way that sometimes it’s best to keep your opinions to yourself. Davey Roach Jr. is a 43-year-old father of two living in Tennessee who came to suspect his 67-year-old neighbor George Patterson, might be a danger to others. That’s why he went on a huge video rant about the fact that he believed he would do something reckless to the people around him. Sure enough, four days later, Patterson shot him dead on November 23, 2019. It is not clear if this was a premeditated act or not but, given his nature, it does seem as if it was planned. He was originally charged with criminal homicide but that has since been upgraded to first-degree murder. Of course, he did go on the lam for a few days but was soon caught and brought into custody by the Rocky Top Police Department in early December.

Felicia Adkins, Roach’s fiance, mentioned that the two were having some sort of dispute in regards to their properties as they could not decide on who would mow the grass on the border of their houses. Roach seemed to be worried that, rather than go to the authorities, Patterson would just take the law into his own hands and this turned out to be correct. Reports indicate that he had even received death threats from Patterson and reported this to the RTPD. Alas, his complaints fell on deaf ears and this led to him paying the ultimate price. The video was first uploaded on November 19 on Facebook and in it, he claimed that his crazy neighbor had a gun with him wherever he went and seemed to be a bit trigger happy. He also mentioned that every time they try to get the cops to take notice of him, they just shrugged him off. Reports say he was not happy with the fact that the police did not take him seriously and said that a crazy guy like him has no qualms about shooting his gun whenever he wanted.

Reports have found that the incident occurred around 8 am and the cops responded to the event just a few hours later. When they first arrived on the scene, he was already on the ground and had succumbed to his gunshot wounds. It’s not clear how many bullets he was hit with but reports estimate it to be around four or five. They rushed him to the local hospital as fast as they could but he did not make it. After he was apprehended by the authorities, Patterson admitted that he was the one responsible for the murder. Later, it was revealed that Patterson threatened to murder Roach’s mom and after he turned his back on him, he pulled the trigger. This all happened as they were driving by his house and saw him out on the lawn. Adkins did her best to try and deescalate the situation but to no avail. He is expected to be sentenced sometime in the next few months as his arraignment is set for later in the year.
