Jason Vukovich was born in Anchorage, Alaska on June 25, 1975, to a single mother. Later he was adopted by his mother’s new husband, Larry Lee Fulton. But instead of protecting him, Fulton became Vukovich’s abuser. Because of this childhood horrific event, Jason Vukovich began avenging children. He assaulted registered child abusers. In Alaska, he was a type of Alaskan Avenger and people saw him as a sort of hero. Locally, he is known as the protector of child rape victims. Unfortunately, he was recently sentenced to twenty-three years of prison for assault and robbery. He was charged for attacking men who had at least three registered sex offenses. Vukovich did not deny that he assaulted the abusers. In fact, he was proud of it.

Jason pled guilty to one count of assault and one of robbery and will be eligible for parole in six years if he remained on good behavior. While in court Jason described his experience as a victim of sexual abuse when he was a child. His stepfather had physically and emotionally abused him. Because of this abuse that lasted for years, he decided to protect other children from pedophiles. He used the registry to find third-time offenders and their addresses. He went on to say that for child abuse is very confusing. Both of his parents were dedicated Christians. “We went to church on Sunday and he abused me every night, pretending it was late night prayer.” Jason says kids should feel safe at church, on the streets, and at home says Vukovich, “and it just isn’t like that.”

Vukovich hated sex offenders and the things they did to children. He felt he did a good thing by attacking them but takes full responsibility for what he has done.
Back in 2016, Vukovich was looking at the sex offender registry. He assaulted three men on the registry, one after the other over a five-day period. On the first victim he used a hammer, with the others he resorted to robbery stealing a truck and a laptop from them.

The general public applauded his actions, but Superior Court Judge Erin Marston ruled that vigilantism is not something that is allowed in Alaska. The men had already been serving their crime. The purpose of the registry is not to allow people to vandalize or attack offenders. The purpose is to keep the community safer. Jason and his brother ran away from home when they were still teenagers. So difficult was it to deal with the abuse of their stepfather. He does not believe any child should have to endure this type of fear. Vukovich believes punishment needs to be stronger and keeping kids home, unable to go anywhere is not an answer. The adults need to have stronger punishment.
