This crew set out on an adventure that would invigorate the senses and give them a remarkable catch with the renowned Captain Cristie and Luiza. The trip was accompanied also by the well-known Captain Jimmy nelson who set sail for another adventure with the crew.

They went in search of triggerfish and these rascals can be a challenge to catch with traditional poles. Instead, they opted for an interesting Hawaiian sling approach that would prove effective. It isn’t a guarantee that once a fish is caught in the sling you have a catch. There are obstacles that Captain Jimmy Nelson has encountered with the fish getting free. Because of their natural defenses in the wild, you have to wear special gloves to handle them otherwise you risk serious injury. Although there are hazards on the job, that shouldn’t deter anyone from taking a chance to have an ecstatic adventure at sea!

The next type of marine creature on their list was to hunt for conch which is found on the ocean floor. Captain Cristie was aware of the perfect location to find a plethora of conch and it takes him very little time to achieve an excellent harvest by simply plucking them out of the water. Within the time frame of around 3 minutes, he was able to scoop up an astonishing yield of a dozen conch. This is a testament to his prowess when hunting this creature, and the whole crew benefited from his expertise. The crew then set off to fish for lobsters and had different methods of carrying it out. Captain Jimmy prefers to utilize his hands, but Luiza utilized the sling to shoot the lobster and proudly display her catch! Both methods are effective, and it shows there is more than one way to catch a delicious lobster! Both Conches and Lobsters are delicacies in Bahamian society, and they are highly gifted in their approach to making a tasty dish utilizing these crustaceans.

After they had a long day of fishing it was time to set up camp and head towards Sandy Kew. This desolate island was the perfect place to catch a glimpse of the catches and start talking about cooking and preparation techniques. There are many ways to approach this, and Captain Jimmy is an expert at effectively removing the conch from shells while discarding unwanted parts. Properly preparing these sea critters is important for understanding which parts are edible. The black parts of the conch should be discarded while retrieving as much meat as possible. They then discussed how to properly fillet a trigger fish for a delicious meal. Not only that, but the conch was utilized in a creative way with a healthy salad including onions, tomatoes, diced conch, and bell pepper with a splash of lime water. The Bahamas are well-known for their conch dishes and professional quality sea dishes! Luiza had a blast traversing the ocean for crustaceans and trigger fish. She encourages others to explore and do the same even if there may be hazards involved. Going out on a limb will yield excellent results, especially when you’re accompanied by professional fishers.
